RYE, NY
The City of Rye on the shore of Long Island Sound is a flourishing residential community where traditional charm blends with modern, everyday living. CULTURE
Rye offers a wide spectrum of cultural opportunities and boasts a large number of community organizations.

  • The Rye Free Reading Room, a handsome brick building on the green, is a modern library with approximately 70,000 books. It also conducts film shows, story hours, art exhibits and concerts.
  • The Rye Arts Center presents a variety of professional and non-professional stage presentations throughout the year.
  • Other organizations include the Rye Garden Club, Rye Community Concerts, Rye Forum, the Rye Conservation Society and the Rye Historical Society.


RECREATION
Residents of Rye take pride in its many natural resources. An 11-acre park and two smaller parks feature many tennis courts, playgrounds, picnic areas and ball fields.

  • Rye's beautiful location on the Long Island Sound provides excellent boating and fishing. Scenic Oakland Beach and Rye Playland Amusement Park are popular in the summer months.
  • The Rye Marina in scenic Milton Harbor has mooring space for 350 boats.
  • The municipal Golf Club offers an 18-hole golf course, an Olympic-size swimming pool and three wading pools, all exclusively for Rye residents.A 46-acre Nature Center, a bird sanctuary, and the 120-acre Marshland Conservancy on the waterfront are all located in Rye.


SHOPPING
A variety of fashionable stores, antique shops and boutiques attract shoppers along Purchase Street in the heart of the village. Diners can enjoy fine international and American cuisine in elegant restaurants or in casual cafes. White Plains, NY and Stamford, CT have branches of chic department stores and nearby Greenwich, CT is known for its many specialty stores.
